ZPM leader Lalduhoma takes oath as Chief Minister of Mizoram
Zoram People’s Movement leader Lalduhoma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Mizoram on Friday. Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office and secretary at the Raj Bhavan complex in Aizawl. Several other ZPM leaders took the oath of office as ministers alongside him.
Lalduhoma created history by becoming the he first leader to become the Chief Minister of Mizoram not belonging to Congress or the MNF. He led the Zoram People’s Movement to victory securing 27 out of 40 seats in the state assembly elections conducted in November.
A former IPS officer, Lalduhoma played an important role in ending insurgency in Mizoram, leading to the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord in 1986. With an illustrious political career to his name, Lalduhoma added another feather in his cap by toppling the Mizo National Front and forming a ZPM government.
