“She is coming back…”: Aide to Sheikh Hasina Confirms Her Return as Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Criticises Muhammad Yunus

Rabbi Alam, a close associate of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Vice President of the United States Awami League, declared on Wednesday that Hasina would soon return to the country as its Prime Minister. He also criticised Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government.
Alam voiced concerns over the current political climate in Bangladesh, which he described as being “under attack.” He went on to warn that the international community must take notice of the situation. “Bangladesh is under attack, and it needs to be addressed by the international community,” he said. “A political uprising is fine, but what’s happening in Bangladesh is not just that—this is a terrorist uprising.”
In his comments, Alam also expressed gratitude toward the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their support in facilitating Sheikh Hasina’s safe passage. He thanked India for providing shelter to many Bangladeshi leaders, including Hasina. “Many of our leaders are sheltered here in India, and we are very thankful to the Indian government for providing the alignment. I also thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing a safe travel passage for our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are thankful to the people of India,” Alam remarked.
Alam’s strong criticism was directed at Muhammad Yunus, whom he claimed didn’t belong in Bangladesh. “We want to ask the Bangladesh Adviser to step down and go back to where you came from. You, Dr. Yunus, do not belong in Bangladesh,” he asserted. He also made it clear that Sheikh Hasina would return to power, saying, “This is the message for the people of Bangladesh that Sheikh Hasina is coming back, she is coming back as the Prime Minister.”
Reflecting on the student-led protests in Bangladesh last year, which ultimately led to Hasina’s ouster, Alam suggested the protests had been manipulated. He acknowledged that the young protesters had “made a mistake” and were deceived in the process.
