Anjali Damania Accuses Cabinet Minister Dhananjay Munde of Multi-Crore Scam, Demands Resignation
Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde finds himself in deeper trouble following fresh allegations of a multi-crore scam by social activist Anjali Damania. Already under fire over claims that his close associate Valmik Karad was involved in the Beed sarpanch murder case, Munde now faces accusations of corruption during his tenure as Agriculture Minister.
At a press conference on Monday, Damania presented a set of documents alleging large-scale financial irregularities in procurement related to the Agriculture Department. She accused Munde of inflating prices in government tenders for nano urea, nano DAP, battery spares, metaldehyde, and cotton storage bags.
According to Damania, nano urea, priced at Rs 184 per liter (Rs 92 for a 500 ml bottle), was procured at Rs 220 per bottle under Munde’s supervision. A total of 19,68,408 bottles were purchased at this inflated rate, effectively doubling the actual cost.
She further alleged that 6,18,000 cotton storage bags were procured at Rs Rs 1,250 per unit, despite another organization, ICAI, recently purchasing the same bags for Rs 577 each. Damania claimed that Rs 160 crore was siphoned off from a Rs 342 crore tender.
Questioning whether a minister should be allowed to continue in office despite such allegations, Damania urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take serious action. She demanded Munde’s immediate resignation, stating, “If a person amasses such wealth in just one year, should he still hold the ministerial post?”
In a significant move, Damania also called on Bhagwangad to withdraw its support for Munde and push for his resignation. She announced plans to visit Bhagwangad soon to present evidence.
