Banks shut due to strike in Imphal, online banking impossible due to internet suspension

Banks in Imphal are shut today, owing to a strike called for 5 days, starting today. The strike was called as a result of yesterday's violence that claimed two lives, one in Imphal West and one in Kangpokpi. Confrontation between the people and forces lasted till late on Thursday night in the heart of Imphal city. Several people who came to the bank for transactions shared their ordeal. There is no internet, and thus, online banking isn't possible. The Internet has been suspended since May 3, 2023
