"Will never be a part of Pakistan...": Farooq Abdullah Blames Pakistan for Rising Terror Attacks in Jammu and Kashmir
National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah on Friday blamed Pakistan as the source of ongoing terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the country to put an end to its "constant aggression". Abdullah's remarks come in the wake of a series of attacks in the region, including a recent incident in Baramulla that claimed the lives of two soldiers and two civilians when an Army vehicle was targeted. Prior to that, six construction workers and a doctor were also gunned down. The NC Chief highlighted the need for Islamabad to "find a way to be friends, otherwise issues will arise."
"These (terror attacks) will continue in the state till we find a suitable solution," Abdullah stated, highlighting his decades-long experience witnessing the loss of innocent lives. He questioned, "Why are they (Pakistan) doing this and sabotaging their own future... when we will not be a part of Pakistan?"
Reflecting on the toll of violence, he added, "Many of our colleagues have been martyred... but it continues every year, and you know the ones responsible for it." Abdullah criticized the misguided belief that such violence would help unite Kashmir with Pakistan.
He called on Pakistan to shift its focus to its own national challenges, reiterating, "I urge them to put an end to this and find a way to be friends... otherwise, issues will arise." Abdullah expressed his condolences to the families affected by the recent attacks.
"Very unfortunate news about the attack on the army vehicles in the Boota Pathri area of North Kashmir which has resulted in some casualties & injuries. This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern. I condemn this attack is the strongest possible terms & send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete & swift recovery," said Omar Abdullah, the newly elected Chief Minsiter of the Union Territory of Kashmir.
In the recently conducted Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, the National Conference clinched 42 of the 90 elected seats after forming an alliance with the Congress under the INDIA bloc. They secured additional support from four independents and the lone AAP MLA, surpassing the majority mark of 46.
