Vadodara Car Crash: Vehicular Speed Exceeded 130 km/h Reveals Volkswagen’s Report

In a report submitted to the Gujarat police, Volkswagen revealed that car involved in the Vadodara crash was traveling at a speed of over 130 km/h. The data was retrieved from the car’s dongle-connected My VW app and analyzed in Germany before being handed over to investigators.
Volkswagen Safety Officers Collected Data
The shocking revelation comes after three safety officers from Volkswagen’s Pune plant visited Vadodara to inspect the vehicle. They retrieved all necessary data, which was then sent to Germany for forensic analysis. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which records crucial crash data such as airbag deployment and speed, confirmed that the vehicle was moving at over 130 km/h at the time of the accident.
Three-Day Police Security at Volkswagen Showroom
The wrecked car was initially kept at the Karelibaug Police Station before being shifted to Volkswagen’s showroom in Vadodara’s New Yard area for further examination. To ensure security, police officers guarded the vehicle in three shifts for three consecutive days.
The accident occurred on the night of March 13, 2025, near Muktanand Circle in Vadodara’s Karelibaug area. The intoxicated driver, identified as Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia (a resident of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh), lost control of his speeding car, running over eight pedestrians.
The accident resulted in the tragic death of Hemaliben Patel on the spot, while her husband, Purav Patel, sustained severe injuries. Among the seven injured, two were children.
Following the incident, police arrested Chaurasia and booked him under culpable homicide charges. Investigations are ongoing, and further legal actions will be taken based on the forensic report provided by Volkswagen.
