Three Suspected Khalistani Militants Killed in Encounter with UP and Punjab Police in Pilibhit

hree suspected Khalistani militants, allegedly involved in a grenade attack on a police checkpoint in Gurdaspur, Punjab, were killed in an encounter with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilibhit early on Monday, officials reported. The deceased suspects have been identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23), and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), all residents of Gurdaspur.

The encounter occurred in the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district, where the accused exchanged fire with law enforcement officers. Amitabh Yash, Director General (Law and Order) of the Uttar Pradesh Police, confirmed that the suspects were involved in the grenade attack on the police post in Gurdaspur.

"The three sustained serious injuries during the encounter and were immediately rushed to CHC Puranpur for medical treatment," said Yash. However, despite the swift medical intervention, the three men succumbed to their injuries.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar further detailed the outcome of the operation, stating that two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and a significant amount of ammunition were seized from the suspects. "This marks a significant disruption of the terror module’s capacity to cause further harm," he wrote on X. "The operation is ongoing, with investigations underway to identify and dismantle the remaining elements of the terror network."

The Punjab Police also provided insights into the operation. Gaurav Yadav, the Director General of Punjab Police, described the encounter as a major breakthrough in efforts against a Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module.
"This terror module has been involved in grenade attacks on police establishments in the border areas of Punjab," Yadav stated on X. "The joint operation, conducted by UP and Punjab police, led to the confrontation with three members of the module who opened fire on the police team."
The Punjab DGP confirmed the seizure of the AK rifles and Glock pistols, and emphasized that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the terror module's activities. "The situation is under control, and legal proceedings are in progress," he added.​
