Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi Shot Dead In Broad Day Light in Jaipur, Investigation On
In a shocking development, the chief of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead in broad daylight at his Jaipur residence in Rajasthan on Tuesday. This came less than 48 hours after BJP won the assembly election in the state, and wrested power from Congress’ Ashok Gehlot Government after a neck-to-neck battle. Gogamedi is a prominent Rajput leader.
He was reportedly outside his house when unknown assailants reportedly came on a scooter and opened fire at him. Apart from Gogamedi, two of his associates have sustained injuries. One of his security personnel was injured in the firing.
They were rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced Gogamedi dead. There have been factions in Karni Sena. The outfit Gogamedi led is different from another similar outfit named Rajput Karni Sena that had led the protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie Padmaavat.
Gogamedi was reportedly shot in the head and chest. Police have commissioned an investigation and manhunt. CCTV visuals indicate at least 3 men came to his house and purportedly assassinated Gogamedi.
"I have spoken to the police commissioner and asked him to arrest the accused at the earliest," said Union Minister and BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. BJP won 119 out of 199 seats in Rajasthan assembly elections, results were announced on Sunday and a new government will be sworn in soon.
