Rajasthan in turmoil: State-wide bandh called in protest of Rajput leader Gogamedi's assassination
Supporters and followers of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena's President, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, have issued a call for a state-wide bandh in Rajasthan on Wednesday to protest against his killing after he was shot dead in his Jaipur home.
The assassination of the Rajput leader has ignited widespread demonstrations across Rajasthan, a state currently undergoing a political transition following the BJP's triumph over the Congress in the recent assembly elections.
CCTV footage doing rounds on various social media platform show Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the leader of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena was fatally shot by three individuals. The assailants can be seen engaged in a conversation over a cup of tea within the confines of his living room, minutes before they gunned him down. Gogamedi, along with two of his companions, sustained gunshot wounds during the assault. Promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, medical professionals pronounced Gogamedi dead. The police have stated that in the retaliatory exchange of gunfire, one of the assailants was also fatally shot by Gogamedi's associates.
Rohit Godara, a known criminal associated with the criminal enterprises overseen by Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, has claimed responsibility for the incident. Godara took responsibility for the attack through a comprehensive post on the social media platform Facebook, where he openly admitted to his involvement in the murder.
In the aftermath of Gogamedi's demise, his supporters mobilized in protest across various districts including Jaipur, Churu, Udaipur, Alwar, and Jodhpur. Streets were reportedly blocked, particularly the Shipra Path road outside the hospital where Gogamedi was taken, as supporters fervently called for the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. The Director General of Police (DGP) for Rajasthan, Umesh Mishra, has appealed for calm, assuring the public that law enforcement was actively conducting raids on suspected hideouts of the accused individuals.
