Police Arrest Man Attempting to Fly to Dubai with Fake Passport at Mumbai Airport
The Sahar Police on Wednesday arrested a 44-year-old man for attempting to board a flight to Dubai with a forged passport at Mumbai Airport. The suspect, identified as Munnilal from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly acquired his passport through fraudulent documentation at the Lucknow passport office.
Munnilal arrived at the airport around 3 p.m. for his scheduled flight on an employment visa. During routine immigration checks, officials identified a discrepancy between his apparent age and the age listed on his passport, prompting further investigation.
Upon questioning, Munnilal admitted to having traveled abroad before, though this information was not reflected in his current passport. He revealed that he had obtained the forged passport with the help of a middleman, Ranu Chaurasia, from Unnao. Munnilal sought the fake documents as employment visas for Dubai are typically not issued to applicants of his age.
Following his confession, immigration authorities handed Munnilal over to Sahar Police. The police have registered a case against him under sections 318(4), 336(2), 336(3), and 340(2) of the BNS Act, along with section 12 of the Passport Act. Sahar Police are now investigating the matter further to uncover potential links in the passport forgery network.
