NTA Declares NEET UG 2024 Centre Wise Results Following SC Order
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday published the city and centre-wise results of the 2024 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET – UG) following the Supreme Court directive. Candidates who appeared for the examination can check their results on the official website of NTA at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/ and also on neet.ntaonline.in.
The results were published following a directive from the Supreme Court. A bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud on Thursday ordered NTA to release the results city and centre-wise by July 20, before 12 pm. The court ordered the agency to publish the marks obtained by students on the website but not to reveal the identity of the students. "The petitioners have submitted that it would be appropriate if the results of the NEET-UG 24 exam are published on the website so as to bring about some transparency on the centre-wise marks obtained by candidates. We direct the NTA to publish the marks obtained by students in the NEET-UG 2024 exam while at the same time ensuring that the identity of the students is masked. The results should be declared in relation to each centre and city separately,” directed the apex court.
The National Testing Agency issued a notice and stated that the results have been published in compliance to the Supreme Court order. “Pursuant to the order dated: 18th July 2024 of Honorable Supreme Court of India in W.P (Civil) No. 335 of 2024, the NTA has published the result of NEET – UG 2024. The result has been published State/ City/ Centre wise marks obtained by candidates without disclosing the identity of the candidates,” said NTA.
The bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra said that it will continue the hearing of pleas alleging paper leak and malpractice in NEET-UG 2024 exams, on July 22. “The 2024 NEET-UG - for entrance to undergraduate medical courses - can only be conducted again if the sanctity of the test held on May 5 was lost on a large scale as a result of leaked questions,” noted the Supreme Court.
The NEET-UG, 2024 was held across 4,750 centres in 571 cities on May 5 and around 24 lakh candidates appeared in it. NEET-UG, conducted by NTA, is a nation-wide examination for admissions into MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. Controversy mired the 2024 NEET-UG after allegations of paper leak and errant marking schemes surfaced. The NEET UG re-examination of the 1563 candidates who were given grace marks was conducted on June 23, 2024, and the results of the exam were announced on June 30, 2024.
