New Death Threats Target Salman Khan as Pranksters Invoke Lawrence Bishnoi for Fame Amid Ongoing Security Worries
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has received another death threat, this time accompanied by a ransom demand of 2 crore rupees. An anonymous sender warned of dire consequences if the amount was not paid. The Worli police promptly registered a case and arrested the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Azam Mohammad Mustafa from Bandra West. Mustafa reportedly found the Mumbai Traffic Police helpline number online and used it to send the threatening message. He is currently under interrogation and is expected to appear in court today.
According to police officials, the message was sent to the Traffic Police helpline on Tuesday afternoon. The sender made explicit threats to Khan's life if the ransom was not met. In response, the Worli police registered a case under IPC Sections 354(2) and 308(4) and quickly traced the sender's location, leading to Mustafa's arrest. Investigations are ongoing to determine his motives.
Recurring Threats: Mostly Pranks, Little Connection to Organized Crime
This latest incident is part of a troubling pattern of threats against Khan, many of which have been determined to be pranks. Mumbai Police report that Khan has been targeted multiple times this year, often by individuals lacking any real ties to criminal organizations.
Recent Timeline of Threats Against Salman Khan:
- October 25: An anonymous caller threatened both Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui. Gufran Khan, a 20-year-old from Noida, was arrested in connection with the incident, but no links to organized crime were found.
- October 17: The Mumbai Traffic Police received WhatsApp messages claiming to be from a member of the Bishnoi gang, demanding 5 crore rupees. Hussain Sheikh, a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur, was arrested, with no gang affiliations established.

Police Resources Strained by Prank Threats
Despite most threats being linked to individuals seeking fame or making pranks, the Mumbai police continue to take these incidents seriously, prioritizing Khan's security. The recurrent nature of these threats has become a strain on police resources, prompting authorities to reinforce their security protocols.
