New Chief Minister of Rajasthan is Bhajanlal Sharma
First-time MLA, Bhajanlal Sharma was named the Chief Minister designate of Rajasthan by BJP on Tuesday. One of the longest-serving party workers of the BJP in Rajasthan, Sharma won from the Sanghaner constituency in the assembly elections conducted in November. Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa have been declared the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state. Vasudev Devnani has been named the new Speaker of the desert state.
"Bhajanlal Sharma has been elected as the leader of the Rajasthan BJP Legislature Party. There will be two Deputy CMs- Diya Singh and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa. Vasudev Devnani to be the Speaker," said BJP central observer for Rajasthan, Rajnath Singh at the party headquarters in Jaipur.
With his roots in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the 56-year-old is known for maintaining a low profile in the political circle, unlike his contemporary Vasundhara Raje who has served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for three terms. Before becoming an MLA, he served as the General Secretary for the Bharatiya Janata Party four times.
"I would like to assure you that all the MLAs of Rajasthan will definitely meet the expectations that the people have with us, with the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we will ensure holistic development of Rajasthan in all areas," said Bhajanlal Sharma, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Rajasthan.
