“Modi-Adani Ek Hai…”: Congress MPs Protest Outside Parliament Demanding Investigation into Adani's US Indictment

Congress MPs on Thursday staged a unique protest outside Parliament, wearing black half jackets with the slogan "Modi Adani ek hain" (Modi and Adani are one) printed on the back. The demonstration was part of the party’s ongoing campaign calling for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the allegations surrounding billionaire Gautam Adani and his conglomerate, following the US indictment.
Along with Priyanka Gandhi and other opposition MPs, Rahul Gandhi was a part of the protest at the Parliament complex. "Would you ever conduct an investigation against yourself? Similarly, Modiji will never investigate Adaniji, because that would be like investigating himself. Modi aur Adani ek hain. Do nahi hain, ek hain (Modi and Adani are one; they are not separate, they are the same),” said Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Congress and other opposition parties are calling for a thorough investigation into the US indictment of Adani and his nephew on bribery and fraud charges. The opposition alleges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is shielding Adani due to their close ties. During the protest outside the Parliament complex, the Congress MPs raised slogans and displayed the slogan jackets to underline their demand for a fair investigation into Adani's alleged financial irregularities.
On Wednesday, leaders from various parties within the INDIA alliance, including Congress, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), DMK, and Left parties, gathered outside Parliament, repeating their call for a JPC probe. They raised slogans and displayed banners reading “Modi-Adani are one.” However, the TMC did not participate in the protest.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued an advisory on Tuesday, urging MPs not to hold protests in front of Parliament gates, citing concerns over safety and security. Despite this, opposition MPs continued their demonstration at the same location.
Congress has argued that the US court indictment of Adani for bribery and fraud supports their demand for a parliamentary probe. Rahul Gandhi had previously called for Adani’s arrest, while the Adani Group dismissed all accusations as “baseless.”
