The fire reportedly started due to a short circuit in the toilet of the B7 bogie. This bogie was completely destroyed, while the B6 and M1 bogies sustained partial damage. The fire quickly spread to multiple coaches before being contained.

Railway staff responded promptly to the emergency. They quickly took action to control the flames, with the Railway fire brigade arriving soon after to assist in extinguishing the fire.
