“Kashmir will never become Pakistan…": NC Chief Farooq Abdullah Condemns Terror Attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Warns Pakistan of “ Severe Consequences” if it continues to harbor terrorists
National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah on Monday condemned the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, and called on Pakistan to cease its support for terrorism in India. He further added that if Pakistan wishes to foster better relations with New Delhi, it must end terror activities in the region. The authorities have cordoned, and have launched a search operation to locate the attackers.
"Kashmir will never become Pakistan," asserted Abdullah. "I want to tell the leadership in Pakistan that if they want good relations with India, they need to put an end to this. Let us live with dignity and succeed,” said the NC Chief. In addition, he issued a stern warning to Pakistan, stating there would be "very severe" consequences if it continued to harbor terrorists. He questioned Pakistan's ability to create a state for the past 75 years, stating, "If they couldn't create a Pakistan for 75 years, how would it be possible now? It is time to end terrorism; otherwise, the results will be very severe. How will talks be held if they kill our innocent people?"
The attack, which occurred at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway, resulted in the deaths of a doctor and six laborers. Abdullah described the incident as "very unfortunate," asking, "What will the terrorists get from this? Do they think they will be able to create a Pakistan here? We are trying to put this to an end so we can move on from the misery."
Jammu and Kashmir's new Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, also condemned the attack, calling it "dastardly and cowardly." He expressed his sadness over the incident, which targeted non-local laborers working on an important infrastructure project. "I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and send my condolences to their loved ones," he wrote on X.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah characterized the attack as a "despicable act of cowardice," promising that those responsible would face the "harshest response" from security forces. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the quick recovery of the injured.
Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called the terrorist attack “a very cowardly and unforgivable crime.” “I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured. This audacity of terrorists will never be able to break the order of construction in Jammu and Kashmir and the faith of the people. The whole country is united in this fight against terrorism,” posted Gandhi.
This terror attack comes shortly after the establishment of a new government in the Union Territory. This government, formed by Omar Abdullah's National Conference in alliance with Congress, marks a significant political shift as it follows the first elections conducted after the abrogation of Article 370.
