June 15 NEET PG 2025 Exam Postponed; Fresh Dates Yet To Be Announced

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025, originally scheduled for June 15, 2025. The decision follows a Supreme Court order mandating that the examination be conducted in a single shift to ensure fairness and transparency, addressing concerns raised by medical aspirants and professional bodies.
The NEET PG, a critical gateway for medical graduates seeking admission to postgraduate programs such as MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses, was initially planned to be held in two shifts due to logistical constraints. However, the dual-shift format, introduced in 2024, sparked widespread criticism over issues of transparency and disparities in exam difficulty between shifts. The Supreme Court’s intervention came after petitions from candidates and organisations, including the Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors’ Network, highlighted the need for a unified examination process.
According to NBEMS, the postponement is necessary to reconfigure the examination process to comply with the court’s directive. “We are committed to ensuring a fair and equitable testing environment for all candidates,” an NBEMS spokesperson stated. The board is working on finalising new dates, expected to be announced within the next two weeks. Candidates are advised to monitor the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in, for updates. "NEET-PG 2025 scheduled to be held on 15.06.2025 has been postponed to arrange for more Test Centres and required infrastructure. The revised date for conduct of NEET-PG 2025 shall be notified shortly," the authority said in the notification highlighting the Supreme Court order.
Last year, the 2024 exam faced multiple rescheduling issues, initially set for March, then moved to June, and finally held in August after concerns over potential paper leaks. The current postponement underscores the complexities of managing a high-stakes exam for approximately two lakh candidates vying for 52,000 postgraduate seats across India.
The NBEMS has assured candidates that the application process, which opened on April 17 and closed on May 7, will remain valid, and no further registrations will be required. The internship completion deadline for eligibility remains July 31, 2025. Further details, including revised shift timings and admit card release dates are yet to be announced.
