Israeli Prime Minister Set for Pacemaker Surgery Following Recent Hospital Discharge
Jerusalem: Days after a health scare resulted in hospitalization, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is slated to undergo a pacemaker implantation surgery, his office communicated early on Sunday.
The announcement stated that the Prime Minister's procedure for the pacemaker implantation would take place at Sheba Medical Centre at Tel Hashomer later that day.
It further detailed that the surgery would be performed under sedation. During this time, Justice Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin would temporarily assume Netanyahu's duties.
This decision for surgical intervention follows shortly after Netanyahu, aged 73, was discharged from the same medical center. His discharge occurred a week ago, following an overnight hospital stay, due to reports of dizziness.
The medical team, led by Sheba's head of cardiology professor Amit Segev, had previously decided to utilize a Holter monitor to keep track of Netanyahu's heart rhythm as part of their cardiological evaluations.
