Ahead of the Mumbai Chapter of the Opposition Alliance INDIA's meeting, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackrey said that they have several choices to project as a Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while the Bhartiya Janata Party has only one, who according to him has failed to do anything for the country these past 10 years.

Addressing a press conference before the 2 day long INDIA meet, he said that the Opposition Alliance, although divided in ideology, has united to save the democracy and sovereignty of Mother India, from the 'dictatorial regime' of the BJP government.

He started his speech by conveying his salutations on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and then took a swipe at BJP's Raksha Bandhan gift to the mothers and sisters of this country, a 200 rupee subsidy on domestic LPG, that was announced by the Union Government on Tuesday. "Was there no Raksha Bandhan in the last nine years? As the INDIA Bloc progresses, the LPG cylinders will be given for free. No matter what they do, people are smart and understand everything", said Uddhav Thackrey.

On being questioned about the projected Prime Ministerial candidate of the INDIA Bloc, Thackeray said, "The question about choice for the prime minister's post should be asked to the BJP, which has only one choice that we have seen for the last nine years. INDIA alliance has several choices for the PM post. What choices does the BJP have?" He further stated that the ruling government is incompetent in curbing the growing unrest across the country. "All they have done is present one 'jumla' (drama) after another", added Thackrey.

He touched upon several issues starting from Manipur violence to wrestler protests to allege complete failure of the BJP-led central Govt and added “People have realised and nothing will save BJP anymore.”

Thackeray said that all decisions pertaining to the recruitment of a convener, a Prime Ministerial candidate, and anything centering on fine-tuning the details of the INDIA Bloc will be done over the next two days, during the third chapter meeting
