Haryana State Home Minister assures a CBI probe into INLD leader Nafe Singh Rathi’s murder
Pressed by the Opposition on the floor of the state assembly, the state Home Minister of Haryana, Anil Vij on Monday said that a CBI probe will be ordered to investigate INLD leader Nafe Singh Rathi’s murder.
The Indian National Lok Dal President Nafe Singh Rathi was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Sunday in the Bhadurgarh in Haryana’a Jhajjhar district. Rathi was accompanied by another party worker who was also killed in the ambush that claimed Rathi’s life. Two others who were also present in the car at the time of firing have been admitted to a hospital. As per reports, Rathi and his associates were inside an SUV when unidentified gunmen ambushed his car and rained down bullets. Clips of CCTV footage that shows masked assailants waiting for Rathi’s car have now gone viral on social media.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana, Deepender Singh hit out at Chief Minister Manohar Lal Kattar over the alleged “lawlessness” in the state that may have led to Rathi’s death. “During the Nuh times, the Chief Minister had said that he cannot guarantee the safety and security of all the citizens of his state. In a state where a former MLA can be gunned down by unidentified gunmen, what will the common men do? Who would they look up to?” questioned Singh.
“The INLD Chief had knocked on the government’s door, he had written letters to the Chief Minister, and he had informed them about the threat to his life and had asked for security. However, the government paid no heed,” added Deepender Singh.
In the meantime, Nafe Singh Rathi’s family has refused to cremate his body until and unless the murderers are arrested. “The police administration is sitting silent. My family and I are not getting security. My father was demanding security for five years. My father was a national leader. All political parties should have supported my father before he was murdered,” said Jitendra Rathi, the INLD leader’s son.
