Facial Recognition Confirms Arrested Bangladeshi Accused as Attacker in Saif Ali Khan Case: Mumbai Police

Fifteen days after questions were raised over the arrest of Mohammad Shariful Islam, Mumbai Police have confirmed his identity through a face recognition test (FRT), dispelling doubts over discrepancies in his appearance compared to the suspect seen in CCTV footage.
According to police sources, the CCTV footage from the crime scene was analyzed, and a comparison of facial features confirmed a match with Shariful. With this breakthrough, investigators are now certain that he is responsible for the attack. The probe is ongoing as authorities work to gather additional evidence to strengthen the case.
Addressing the media recently, Additional Commissioner Paramajit Dahiya defended the police action, stating, “The person in custody is the prime suspect. We are certain that we have apprehended the right individual.”
In a significant development, Dahiya also revealed that evidence suggests the accused is a Bangladeshi national.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence has drawn widespread attention. Earlier, discrepancies emerged regarding the timing of his hospital admission. A medico-legal report stated that the actor was admitted at 4:11 a.m., differing from initial reports. However, Dahiya maintained the police’s confidence in their version of events.
