Election Code Enforced: ₹52 Crore Seized in Maharashtra in 24 Hours
In a major crackdown following the enforcement of the election code of conduct on October 15, Maharashtra's special teams formed by the Election Commission have seized property worth ₹52 crore in the last 24 hours. The operations aimed at curbing illegal money flow and other malpractices come in the wake of the upcoming state elections.
According to official sources, various enforcement agencies were involved in the action, which led to the following seizures:
Income Tax Department: ₹30.93 crore
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence: ₹8.30 crore
State Police Department: ₹8.10 crore
Narcotics Control Bureau: ₹2.50 crore
State Excise Department: ₹1.75 crore
Customs Department: ₹72.65 lakh
Key districts where significant ⁷action took place include Nagpur, the Mumbai suburbs, and Ratnagiri. The Election Commission emphasized that these operations demonstrate the vigilance of the electoral system and serve as a stern warning against inducement or election malpractice. Election monitoring teams will persist in their efforts to ensure free and fair elections across the state.
