Elderly Woman and Disabled Worker Robbed in Vile Parle, Two Arrested by Crime Branch
In a shocking incident, two unidentified individuals forcefully entered a residence in Vile Parle on Monday afternoon and carried out a robbery targeting an elderly woman and a disabled domestic worker.
The intruders threatened the victims with a knife, tied their hands, feet, and mouths using adhesive tape, and looted jewelry worth Rs 6.8 lakh and Rs 1.05 lakh in cash, amounting to a total of Rs 7.85 lakh. A case was registered at Vile Parle Police Station under FIR No. 12/2025, invoking sections 304(4), 126(2), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.
Given the nature of the crime, the Mumbai Crime Branch initiated a parallel investigation, alongside Unit 8. Technical and human intelligence were employed to trace the suspects, who had fled Mumbai immediately after the crime. The investigation revealed the involvement of a woman in the robbery. She was detained and interrogated, leading to the arrest of the primary suspect from the Thane area.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Babu Anand Sindal (27), a resident of Versova with a prior criminal record at Versova Police Station for offenses including cheating and forgery, and Shweta Jayesh Ladge (35), also a resident of Versova. Both suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
