Delhi Cafe Owner Dies by Suicide Amid Divorce Battle, Leaves Behind 54-Minute Video Suicide Note
Puneet Khurana, a Delhi-based cafe owner, allegedly took his own life amidst a legal dispute with his wife over divorce and business matters. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening at his residence in Kalyan Vihar, where he was found hanging.
Police have confirmed that Khurana left behind a 54-minute video suicide note, which reportedly includes several voice recordings between him and his wife. In the recordings, the couple is heard arguing about the ownership of their joint bakery businer family, Khurana and his wife had been involved in frequent disagreements, particularly regarding the business.
The family claims that during a recent conversation, Khurana's wife told him, "Just because our divorce case is ongoing doesn't mean you can separate me from the business."
Puneet Khurana married in 2016, but the couple had been living separately for the past few years while undergoing divorce proceedings. The police have initiated an inquest into the case but have not released the video suicide note, citing it as case property.
The incident has drawn parallels to a similar case in Bengaluru in December 2024, where techi allegedly died by 'Subhash due to mental harassment from his wife. Nikita and her family members were later arrested in connection with the case.
Delhi police are currently investigating Khurana's death, with an ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding the suicide.
