Crime Branch Files 4590 pages Charge Sheet in Baba Siddiqui Murder Case; Three Accused Still Wanted
The Mumbai Crime Branch has filed a comprehensive 4,590-page charge sheet in the Hon’ble Special MCOCA Court, Court No. 57, Sessions Court, in connection with the murder of former state minister Ziauddin Abdul Rahim Siddiqui, popularly known as Baba Siddiqui. The charge sheet, filed on January 6, details the involvement of 26 arrested accused and three wanted suspects in the case.
Three suspects remain at large, and the authorities have declared them wanted, Mohammad Yasin Akhtar, alias Sikandar, Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, alias Shubbu, Anmol Lavinder Singh Bishnoi, alias Bhanu.
According to sources, the police claimed in court that there are not one but three reasons behind this murder.
Reason 1:
Baba Siddiqui’s close relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Reason 2:
Establishing the supremacy of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Mumbai and other regions.
Reason 3:
The alleged murder of Anuj Thapan. (Anuj Thapan was an accused in the firing incident at Salman Khan’s residence. The Bishnoi gang considers his death a murder, while the police claim that Anuj Thapan committed suicide.)
The probe also revealed that the crime was masterminded by wanted accused Anmol Lavinder Singh Bishnoi. Bishnoi directed members of his organized crime gang to execute the murder as part of a conspiracy aimed at instilling fear and establishing their dominance. Investigators determined that the gang acted collectively under Bishnoi’s instructions, leading to the invocation of provisions under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
So far, 26 accused have been arrested from various states across India. The chargesheet, supported by strong evidence, outlines the roles of the arrested individuals and the wanted suspects in the crime.
While the chargesheet has been filed, the investigation is still underway to apprehend the remaining three wanted suspects. The Mumbai Crime Branch is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to ensure justice in this high-profile case.
