The teams during the operation recovered several weapons, including INSAS rifles, AK-47 rifles, and SLR rifles.
Inspector General of Police for the Bastar range, Sunderaj P, confirmed that the forces had received intelligence about Maoist activity in the area prior to the encounter. "The forces had received intelligence about the presence of Maoists in the area. We are yet to identify the bodies of the Maoists recovered," he said. The search operation is still ongoing, with authorities continuing to comb the jungle for more details. "More details are awaited as the team is still in the jungle," added the IG.
This incident follows a similar encounter on Thursday, when a Maoist was killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces in the Malkangiri district of Odisha. According to the police, the exchange took place along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, resulting in the death of one Maoist.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday to discuss issues related to the state’s ongoing fight against Maoists. During the meeting, they focused on development efforts in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh and the broader goal of achieving peace and stability in these regions.
CM Sai emphasized the state’s commitment to eradicating Maoist influence, citing recent progress. The chief minister also highlighted that both the state government and security forces have been working relentlessly toward the goal of uprooting the Naxals from Chhattisgarh.
