BJP names Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh
The Bharatiya Janata Party named Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on Monday. Three-time MLA from the Ujjain Dakshin seat, the 58-year-old was appointed as the new CM following BJP’s landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh, rubbishing all claims of anti-incumbency. A leader from the OBC community, Yadav beat many of the known contending faces to secure the CM title.
“I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfill my responsibilities,” said Mohan Yadav after being appointed the new Chief Minister at the BJP headquarters in Bhopal.
The former Education Minister of the outgoing Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, Mohan Yadav will assume the role of the Chief Minister after BJP secured 163 out of 230 seats in the recent Madhya Pradesh elections conducted in November.
BJP has named two Deputy Chief Ministers – Jagdish Devda and Rajesh Sukhla, both held important positions during the Chouhan regime. Narendra Singh Tomar, the ex-Union Agriculture Minister, and one of the three former Union ministers fielded by the party during the assembly elections has been made the new Assembly Speaker.
