“BJP is fueling the fights between the communities”, says Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee over Haryana & Manipur crisis
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee hit back at the Union Government on Wednesday, condemning them for the prevalent air of unrest looming over several states of India. The escalating violence in Haryana, and the Manipur mayhem were highlights of her speech. “They (BJP) send central teams for every little development in Bengal. Where are the central teams now? Manipur is burning, Haryana is burning. “she said.
Drawing inferences to a statement issues by the Haryana CM, centering on providing individual security to all citizens, Banerjee said, “Why are the rules any different for Haryana? I support his statement, it’s not possible to give one police each to each individual but can that logic be any different if something happens in Bengal? However, the government should not fuel casteism or communalism. Why did this communal tension start?” she asked. Haryana’s Nuh and its adjoining areas are grappling with instances of escalating violence that have resulted in 6 deaths, and over 200 are injured. “BJP is fueling these fights between various groups and communities, after which, they are running out of ways to quell the violence”, she added.
Taking a jibe at the BJP government, she said that BJP is playing dirty games of divide and rule just to win the elections. Banerjee further suggested that the ploy of violence is simply a ruse that BJP uses to divert the country’s attention from the real issues. “One can fool some of the people some of the times, but, one cannot fool all the people all the time”, said she.
92 days have passed and the Prime Minister is yet to issue a statement on the Manipur mayhem. Reports state that the PM will issue a statement on August 10, in tandem to this Mamata Banerjee said, “I read in the papers that the PM will issue a statement on August 10, is that an astrological fancy? An urgent issue is an urgent issue.” The situation in Manipur is one that is riddled with tales of death, displacement and loss. “The double engine government gives out double the amount of lies. They simply trade in lies and false promises”, said Banerjee condemning the PM’s silence and the Manipur government’s inability to contain the violence.
Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee suggested that the Bhartiya Janata Party has adapted to a model of partisan politics. She further stated that the citizens of the country, with the help of their leaders need to stay united, that is the only way of preventing such violent fallouts.
