Bengal Government's Survey and Registration Drive for Madrasas: Scholarships and Benefits Extended
Bengal government to start a survey of Madrasas and encourage them to register with the government to access scholarships and benefits, similar to other affiliated organizations like WBSE and WBHSE.
A state govt. committee will be created with the soul objective for the development of educational infrastructures and promoting overall development of the students . The committee will comprise Educationists, officials of relevant govt. Department , members of local Muslim communities.
"We have always maintained that will not interfere in their teaching, or their syllabus. What we have said is that we will conduct a survey, and that too, only for those madrassahs that are interested. The objective is to ensure that these madrassahs get infrastructure development for the
students" said by chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
The entire initiative by the Govt. of
West Bengal is to uplift and provide social security to the marginalized students and to recognise their merit.
The schemes of govt. include kannayasree prakalpa, Swami Vivekananda scholarship, sabuj saathi, smart phone facilities etc.
Kanyashree Prakalpa started in 2013 empowers girls through conditional cash transfers and scholarships, promoting education and delaying early marriages. On the other hand, the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship supports meritorious students pursuing higher education, fostering academic excellence and socio-economic development in the state.
Madrasa education in West Bengal includes Islamic religious teachings, Quranic studies, and Arabic language, alongside some general education subjects. There are about 614 Madrasas currently active in the state.
