APMC Contractor Shot Near D-Mart in Navi Mumbai: Six Rounds Fired
A firing incident near the D-Mart outlet in Sanpada on Friday morning left one person injured, sparking chaos and panic in the busy area.
Two bike-borne assailants fired six rounds at an APMC garbage contractor near D-Mart in Sanpada, Navi Mumbai on Friday morning, leaving him injured.
According to police, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle opened fire, discharging 5-6 rounds before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Rajaram Thoke (48), sustained bullet injuries to his abdomen, shoulder, and leg.
The pillion rider fired six bullets, four of which struck Thoke.
According to DCP (Zone 1) Pankaj Dahane, Thoke, who holds a garbage collection and disposal contract for the APMC market in Turbhe, was attacked while visiting the NMMC ward office.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with shoppers and commuters scrambling for cover after the gunshots rang out.
The Sanpada police have launched an investigation into the incident. "We are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the attackers and determine their motive," said an officer involved in the case.
