Amit Shah Draws a Contrast between Modi and UPA Government’s Fund Allocation for Maharashtra, Slams Congress, NCP Leaders in Campaign Rally Ahead of Elections
With the Maharashtra Assembly elections just a week away, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress and NCP leaders, including Sharad Pawar, during his rallies in Mumbai's Ghatkopar and Borivali areas on Tuesday.
In his address, Shah sharply criticized the financial contributions of the UPA government to Maharashtra during its decade-long rule, claiming that the Congress-led alliance failed to adequately support the state. "I want to ask Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar how much money they allocated to Maharashtra when they were in power. I have proof that the UPA only provided ₹1.51 lakh crore to the state," Shah said, drawing a contrast with the Modi government's spending. "From 2014 to 2024, the Modi government allocated ₹10.15 lakh crore to Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar only engaged in politics during his time in power, nothing else," he added.
Shah also took a direct swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, making a pointed reference to his political struggles. "I began my political journey at the age of 12, but I have never seen anything like this. Sonia Gandhi tried to 'land the plane' named Rahul Gandhi 20 times, and it crashed each time. Now, with the help of Aghadi, Sonia Gandhi is trying once again, but I assure you, this plane will crash for the 21st time on November 23 with a huge margin," Shah remarked.
Turning his attention to Congress's policy flip-flops, Shah claimed that the party had adopted schemes they had once opposed. "They rejected the Ladli Bahin Yojana, but in their manifesto, they renamed and implemented the same scheme," Shah alleged, accusing Congress of inconsistency in its governance.
Addressing the concerns of Mumbai's residents, Shah promised that if the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance) government is elected, they would take decisive action to identify and remove illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants from the state. "We will ensure that no illegal immigrants are allowed to stay in Maharashtra," he said.
Shah also targeted Rahul Gandhi's handling of the Constitution, accusing him of misusing it for political advantage. "Rahul Gandhi should be ashamed of himself for spreading false narratives. If he has any shame left, he should drown in water for using the Constitution in such a manner," Shah remarked, fueling the growing political rivalry.
On the contentious Waqf Bill, Shah criticized Congress for opposing it and reiterated his government's intention to amend the Waqf Board. "I assure everyone here that we will soon make amendments to the Waqf Board," he said.
In his closing remarks, Shah reaffirmed the BJP-led government's firm stance on Article 370. "No matter what, even the fourth generation of the Gandhi family will not be able to reverse the decision of revoking Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir," he declared. As the election date nears, Shah's aggressive campaigning underscores the intense political battle between the BJP-led alliance and its rivals, setting the stage for a heated showdown in Maharashtra on November 23.
