Hyderabad Police on Friday arrested Telugu actor Allu Arjun in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at a screening of his latest film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident took place on December 4 when a large crowd of fans gathered for the premiere at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, leading to chaos and the unfortunate death of a 35-year-old woman.

The victim, identified as Revathi, died in the stampede, while her nine-year-old son, Sri Teja, was hospitalized due to asphyxiation. Police confirmed that Sri Teja is recovering in the hospital. The stampede occurred as fans flocked to the Sandhya Theatre, located at the busy RTC Crossroads, to catch a glimpse of the actor.

A team from Chikkadpally police station arrived at Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills and took the actor into custody for questioning. He was subsequently brought to the police station. In response to the incident, a case was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint from the deceased’s family.

Allu Arjun has since filed a petition in the High Court seeking to quash the FIR and requesting a stay on any further proceedings, including his arrest, pending the outcome of the case. The High Court is expected to hear the petition soon. In addition, he announced a financial aid of ₹25 lakh to the family of the deceased woman to support them during this difficult time.
