Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections, PM Modi Reduces Cooking Gas Cylinder Cost By Rs 100
Ahead of the LokSabha elections 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday has announced a reduction of Rs 100 in cooking gas cylinder prices. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, PM Modi took to his social media and posted on ‘X’: "Today, on Women's Day, our Government has decided to reduce LPG cylinder prices by ₹ 100. This will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti.”
With days to go for the election commission to announce election dates, in a cabinet decision the Modi government on Thursday has decided to extend the Rs 300 subsidy per cylinder to poor women under the Ujjwala Yojana scheme to the next fiscal starting from April 1. This subsidy that was previously announced was meant to end by March 31, 2024.
“By making cooking gas more affordable, we also aim to support the well-being of families and ensure a healthier environment. This is in line with our commitment to empowering women and ensuring ‘Ease of Living’ for them”, PM Modi added in his ‘X’ post.
