5 injured after coaches of the Charminar Express train derailed in Hyderabad
At least 5 people were injured following a derailment at Nampally Railway Station in Hyderabad, Telangana, when three coaches of the Charminar Express train went off the tracks on Wednesday. As per reports, coaches S2, S3 and S6 derailed at around 9:15am in the morning.
“The railway station is a terminal station where trains end. The train should have stopped before the end. However the train overshot. Three coaches of the train got derailed in the incident. Around five people who stood near the doors of the train suffered minor injuries in the incident. They are being treated at the railway hospital,” said Rakesh, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the South Central Railway.
The final stop for the train was the Hyderabad Deccan railway station. According to South Central Railway officials, the Charminar Express was moving slowly upon reaching the station, and it overshot the last point, resulting in the derailment of three coaches—S2, S3, and S6. As a consequence of this derailment, at least 5 passengers sustained injuries due to the sudden jolt.
The injured passengers are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital, as confirmed by a South Central Railway (SCR) official. The police are investigating the derailment to ascertain the cause of the incident.
