3.7 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Gujarat's Kutch District
A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck Kutch district in Gujarat on Monday morning, the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) confirmed.
The tremor was recorded at 10:44 am, with its epicenter located 76 kilometers north-northeast of Lakhpat. The district administration reported no casualties or property damage.
This is the second earthquake above magnitude 3 to hit Kutch this month. Earlier, a 3.2 magnitude tremor was recorded on December 7, while a 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred on November 18.
Kutch lies in a high-risk seismic zone. The Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) highlights the region's vulnerability, stating that the January 26, 2001 earthquake in Kutch was the third largest and second most destructive in India over the last two centuries.
