Lt Col (Retd) Rajveer Chauhan Laid to Rest in Jaipur after Tragic Chopper Crash; Wife in Uniform Leads Funeral

The funeral of Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Rajveer Singh Chauhan, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash in Uttarakhand on 15 June, was held in Jaipur on Monday morning. The solemn ceremony drew a crowd of mourners, including family members, friends, fellow officers, and neighbours.
His wife, Lieutenant Colonel Deepika Chauhan, herself an officer in the Indian Army, led the funeral procession. Dressed in uniform, she stood beside her husband’s tricolour-draped coffin, visibly devastated, and held a framed photograph of him as she walked with dignity and grief. A poignant video captured the heart-rending scene of Colonel Deepika paying her last respects, a portrait of unwavering courage amid immeasurable sorrow.
Among those who attended the ceremony was Rajasthan Minister and former Army officer Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who offered his condolences to the bereaved family.
The helicopter crash took place at approximately 5:20 am near Guptkashi, as the chopper was returning from Kedarnath. All seven people onboard, including six pilgrims and the pilot were killed when the aircraft crashed into a forested area and burst into flames.
According to a statement from the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), there were no survivors. All the bodies were charred beyond recognition.
Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Rajveer Chauhan had recently transitioned from military service to civilian aviation. He retired from the Indian Army in September last year after 14 years of dedicated service, most recently with the Army Aviation Corps in Pathankot. Following his retirement, he joined Aryan Aviation Pvt Ltd as a commercial helicopter pilot.
