Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reaffirmed that Nitish Kumar would lead the NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for later this year. Speaking at a public rally in Gopalganj, Shah urged voters to support the NDA government, highlighting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in driving Bihar’s development. Accorfing to reports, Shah also attended a meeting of NDA partners and held a discussion focused on election strategies, preparations, and seat-sharing among alliance members.

“I appeal to the people to once again elect the NDA government in Bihar under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. They will carry forward the momentum of growth in the state,” Shah declared.

During his address, Shah contrasted the governance of the current administration with the previous rule of RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. He warned that a return to their leadership would mean a resurgence of “jungle raj.” “Big businesses left Bihar during Lalu’s reign, but in the 20 years of Nitish’s rule, roads, electricity, and tap water have reached every village and home. Meanwhile, Modi provided houses, toilets, medicines, and rations to the poor,” he stated.

Shah further accused the former RJD government of corruption, citing scandals such as the fodder scam, bitumen scam, flood relief scam, railway hotel scam, soil scam, and the railway jobs-for-land scam. “The Lalu government was infamous for caste-based massacres and corruption. They set records in committing scams,” he remarked.

During the visit, Shah and Nitish jointly inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several central and state government projects. Speaking at the event, Nitish expressed regret over his previous alliances with the Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan and pledged his commitment to the NDA in the future.
