Why is Aaditya Thackeray’s Custodial Interrogation Necessary in Disha Salian Death Case? - Court Questions Petitioner

The Bombay High Court has questioned the petitioner regarding the need for custodial interrogation of Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) leader Aaditya Thackeray in relation to the alleged suicide of Disha Salian, the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court has directed the petitioner to provide justification for why Thackeray’s interrogation is necessary in the case. The petition seeks permission for this interrogation, raising concerns over the involvement of the prominent political figure in the deaths.

The High Court has given the petitioner a two-week deadline to submit the required arguments. Additionally, the court has also asked the petitioner to clarify their intent behind filing the petition.

Aaditya Thackeray has also filed a petition in the High Court regarding Disha Salian's death, which was heard. The petition seeking Thackeray’s custodial interrogation argues that the mobile locations of Aaditya Thackeray, Rahul Kanal, Sooraj Pancholi, Sachin Waze, and Ekta Kapoor on June 8, 2020, should be investigated, as they were allegedly present within a 100-meter radius that night.

Additionally, it calls for an investigation into the mobile locations of Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty, Aaditya Thackeray, Arbaaz Khan, Sandeep Singh, and Showik Chakraborty on June 13 and 14, 2020. The petition also requests a review of CCTV footage from the surrounding areas linked to Aaditya Thackeray on those dates.

The petition further questions whether Aaditya Thackeray and Rhea Chakraborty had 44 phone conversations around the time of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and demands a detailed investigation into these interactions. The petitioner insists on a thorough probe into all the evidence related to the deaths of Sushant and Disha.

The petition also calls for an investigation into allegations made by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane against Aaditya Thackeray regarding child sexual abuse. The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by Rashid Khan Pathan, President of the Association of Clients in the Supreme Court and High Court. Aaditya Thackeray, in response, has filed an intervention petition, leading to a combined hearing today.

During the hearing, Aaditya Thackeray’s lawyer, Sudip Pasbola, strongly defended his client, questioning the validity of the allegations. Meanwhile, the petitioner’s lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, presented counterarguments. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe also intervened during the discussion.

The High Court questioned the petitioner’s motives, stating that multiple investigative agencies are already probing the case. "Why do you feel the need to make these allegations?" the court asked.

The petitioner’s lawyer insisted that their side should be heard first before dismissing the plea.

However, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Bharti Dangre, agreed to first hear Aaditya Thackeray’s response before proceeding further.
