“Why are Muslims across the country being disrespected?”: Owaisi Slams BJP Over Delhi Police Kicking Incident
Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party over the viral video of a Delhi police officer kicking Muslims engaged in prayer on the street, the AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday expressed his profound concern stating that it has deeply affected everyone and serves as a stark reminder of the lack of dignity and respect given to the Muslims in this county.
“The incident has shocked everyone, it tells you how little respect and dignity the Muslims have. I want to ask the prime minister, BJP people - the man, who was insulted, belongs to which family? Why are the 17 Crore Muslims across the country being disrespected like this?” questioned Oawaisi condemning the BJP-led central government for the incident, emphasizing that the responsibility for law and order in the national capital lies with the Home Minister.
A video of Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar Tomar of the Delhi Police forcibly pushing and kicking men who were offering prayers on a road in the Inderlok area of north Delhi went viral on social media. Hundreds of local took to the streets, protesting against the act. Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Parmaditya and Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Sagar Singh Kalsi arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control. The authorities promptly suspended the official involved.
The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to remove the Delhi Police officer who kicked worshippers during namaz. In a letter to the Union Home minister, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind said such incidents make Muslims lose trust in the governmnrt and hurt India's reputation worldwide.
