West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday departed for Mumbai to attend the wedding of Ananth Ambani, the son of renowned industrialist Mukesh Ambani, scheduled to take place on July 12. During her visit, the Trinamool Congress supremo is also expected to meet with her allies from the INDIA bloc, before returning to Kolkata on July 13.

“I am leaving for Mumbai, as you know it's Mukesh Ambani’s son’s wedding, and they have invited me to attend the ceremony. Mukeshji always graces all invitations extended to him from Bengal. I might not have gone, but the way they invited me, from Mukhesh ji to Nita ji, even their son, all of them have extended a warm invitation, that’s why I am attending the event,” said Banerjee while addressing the media outside the Kolkata airport before she boarded a flight to Mumbai.

Mamata Banerjee has informed that she has scheduled meetings with key political leaders of the Opposition INDIA Alliance on Friday, including Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray. Additionally, she is expected to meet with Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on the sidelines of the Ambani wedding.

The wedding of Ananth Ambani and Radhika Merchant has been a highly anticipated and extravagant affair, with pre-wedding festivities featuring performances by global superstars like Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber. The grand wedding ceremony, scheduled for July 12 at the Jio Center in the Bandra-Kurla complex, is expected to be attended by a veritable who's who of Indian politics and society. The Ambani family has extended invitations to a plethora of dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and the Chief Ministers of all states.
