UP Woman Allegedly Molested in Ambulance; Husband Dies after Perpetrators Cut Off Oxygen
A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted inside an ambulance in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district, while accompanying her ailing husband to a hospital. According to reports, the assault took place on August 30, when the ambulance staff reportedly mistreated both the woman and her husband, who later died due to complications.
The woman, whose husband Harish had been ill for several days, initially sought treatment at Basti Medical College. As his condition worsened, doctors referred him to a different hospital. However, facing financial constraints, the woman decided to return home rather than pay the high fees at a private hospital.
During their journey in the ambulance, the driver and his assistant allegedly forced the woman to sit in the front with them. According to the woman, she was subjected to sexual harassment by the two men. When she attempted to resist and call for help, they cut off her husband's oxygen supply and forcibly removed both him and her from the vehicle. The driver also reportedly stole her jewelry.
Harish’s condition rapidly deteriorated after the oxygen supply was disconnected, and he was eventually taken to Gorakhpur Medical College, where he passed away. The woman recounted her ordeal to her brother, who then went to the police. However, the family has alleged that the police did not take any immediate action against the ambulance staff. The woman has filed a formal complaint with the Ghazipur police station in Lucknow. Additional Director General of Police for Lucknow North, Jitendra Dubey, confirmed that a case has been registered.
