Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday announced its list of 42 candidates fielded by the party in Bengal for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The announcement was made during the mega “Jana-Gorjan” (People’s Roar) rally held by the party at the historic Brigade ground of West Bengal.

Two former cricketers, Kirti Azad and Yusuf Pathan have made it into the list of candidates. While Kirti Azad, who was a part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team, will contest from Bardhaman-Durgapur, Yusuf Pathan has been fielded as a candidate for the Congress bastion of Bardhaman.

Bollywood veteran and Asansol MP Shatrughan Sinha will contest from his own constituency. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra who was expelled from the Parliament is set to contest from her usual Krishnanagar seat. Abhishek Banerjee is once again set to compete from his usual Diamond Harbour seat.

Several Tollywood actors have also made it to the list of nominations released by Trinamool Congress. Actor Dev has been fielded from his usual Ghatal constituency, Rachana Banerjee has been given the Hoogly seat and Sayani Ghosh will fight from the Jadavpur seat.
