The West Bengal Junior Doctor's Front sent a fresh email to the state government on Wednesday, requesting a meeting to discuss "demands which were left unresolved" following thier meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday. The protesting doctors specifically want to address their fourth and fifth demands from the five-point list tabled before the Chief Minister, which pertain to "the development of healthcare system, safety, security and prevailing threat culture."

"We were assured in the meeting, a special task force presided by you will be formed to address these issues and further discussions with us would take place regarding it's
formulation and function. We would like to sit in a meeting with you and other members of the task force today regarding the same.
We are eagerly waiting for your positive
response," reads the email sent by the junior doctors to Chief Secretary Manoj Pant.

Following the completion of the much anticipated meeting between CM Mamata Banerjee and the protesting junior doctors, the Bengal government announced the removal of Commissioner of Police Vineet Goyal and two senior health officials in response to demands from junior doctors. “We have kept almost all their demands. We have decided to change the Kolkata Police Commissioner...After the Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday, by evening the notification will be issued announcing the name of the new CP," said Mamata Banerjee. The Chief Minister also added that the DME and the DHS of the Health department would also be changed, and urged the junior doctors to resume their duties.

On Tuesday, the Bengal Government appointed IPS Manoj Kumar Verma as the new Police Commissioner of Kolkata, replacing Vineet Goyal. Additionally, changes were also made in the state health department. Debashis Halder was replaced as Director of Health Services by Dr. Swapan Soren, while Dr. Suparna Dutta became the new OSD for Medical Education, leaving the Director of Medical Education position vacant for now.

Despite the changes, the protesting junior doctors, following their general body meeting on Tuesday night, have decided to continue their cease work agitation until all their demands are met. The West Bengal Junior Doctor's Front stated that the conditions are not conducive enough for them to return to work. "The ground reality is very different from what has been claimed in the Supreme Court. The rest rooms, toilets and the installation of CCTV cameras is far from complete," said the protesting doctors. They further emphasized that enhancing security measures at hospitals alone will not guarantee safety unless overall healthcare services are improved, calling for adequate staffing and counseling services.
