“TMC hatching conspiracies….”: PM Modi Accuses Trinamool Congress of Hindering Ram Navami Celebrations in Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday slammed the ruling Trinamool Congress for allegedly “hatching conspiracies” to hinder Ram Navami celebrations in Bengal. The Prime Minister was addressing an election rally in Bengal’s Balurghat, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“This year the occasion of Ram Navami is special, so is Navratri and Bengal’s Paila Baisshakh. This is the first Ram Navami when Ram Lalla has been enthroned in the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. I know TMC, as always has tried its best to stop the Ram Navami festivities in Bengal and hatched conspiracies,” said PM Modi.
Lauding the recent Calcutta High Court ruling on Monday, granting permission to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to conduct a procession on Ram Navami in Howrah city, the Prime Minister asserted that the “truth always wins.” “Truth always wins, therefore, permission has been granted by the court and tomorrow, with great devotion, Ram Navami processions will be taken out. I congratulate all my brothers and sisters of Bengal on this occasion,” added the Prime Minister.
Both the BJP and Trinamool Congress have been at loggerheads over Ram Navami celebrations in Bengal. Time and again, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the BJP has fanned the purported communal tensions over the celebration of Ram Navami for electoral gains. “The Election Commission is selectively appointing officers. Changes are being made so that BJP gets a chance. If there is even one riot, it will be the responsibility of the Election Commission, because the law and order of the state is currently being looked after by the Election Commission,” said Mamata Banerjee.
The 2024 Lok Sabha Elections will be held in 7 phases, starting April 19 with the declaration of results on June 4. Elections in Bengal will be held in 7 phases, Balurghat goes to polling in the second phase on April 26 and BJP Bengal President, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, has been nominated by the saffron party to contest from this constituency.
