Addressing a public gathering in Siliguri on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the ruling Trinamool Congress government over the alleged siphoning of the MNREGA wages meant for the job card holders of Bengal. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this is the Prime Minister's fourth visit to the state since the beginning of this month.

"The TMC government has only looted the people of Bengal. Modi had sent the money for MNREGA wages, buy the TMC government has taken that away from you. The corrupt TMC workers made 25 lakh fake job cards to siphon your wages...TMC has never empathized with your troubles, they will never shoulder your difficulties, they do not care about the well-being of the people of Bengal," said the Prime Minister.

It is important to note that the Prime Minister's claims come at a time when the Center and the state government are at loggerheads over the MNREGA wages. The Bengal government has alleged that the Union government has withheld the funds meant for the poor people, and has deprived them of their rightful dues. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that the Bengal government would not let down the poor people and that all MNREGA dues would be cleared from the state funds.

The Sandeshkhali issue, once again found a mention in the Prime Minister's address, as he hit out at the state give over it. "The entire has been left aghast by the condition of the womne of Sandeshkhali
The whole nation is discussing what the TMC leaders did to the Dalit and Adivasi women of Sandeshkhali. Commiting atrocities against women and looting the hard-earned money of the poor this is what the TMC government does," asserted PM Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lashed out at the opposition INDIA alliance over the alleged practice of dynasty politics. "Modi is creating more and more opportunities for every poor but this is not liked at all by those family members who have come into politics only for power. Therefore they hatch conspiracies to keep his family at the top of power. TMC people are worried about their nephews, and Congress people have to promote the sons and daughters of their royal family, and the Left caters to their fancies, they do not care about your families. It is Modi, the BJP, and the NDA alliance who have always thought about the future of your families," said the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled and inaugurated several infrastructural projects in the rail and road sectors in West Bengal, with a combined value exceeding Rs 4500 crore.
