TMC Abhishek Banerjee summoned by ED yet again; likely to appear before the agency on November 9
Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on November 9 for questioning in connection to the alleged recruitment scam case.
As per reports the Diamond Harbour MP will appear before the central agency on Thursday. This is the 5th time since May this year that the MP has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate as well as the CBI.
Previously, Banerjee was summoned by the ED on October 3, which the MP skipped as he was spearheading the TMC protest in Delhi against the MNREGA funds which have allegedly been blocked by the BJP-led Union Government. He was again summoned on October 9 which he attended and was questioned for several hours before he was allowed to leave.
The Diamond Harbour MP was also summoned on September 13, which incidentally also happened to be the Opposition Alliance INDIA’s first coordination committee meeting in Delhi. Banerjee who is a part of the coordination committee was also slated to attend the meeting but could not due to the summon. The TMC MP vehemently maintained that the ED's questioning was an attempt to thwart his participation in the 'INDIA' meet.
Abhishek Banerjee, in addition to several other Opposition leaders have alleged that the BJP is using central agencies to curb dissent in states where they are not in power.
