“Time mila toh milenge...” Mamata Banerjee announces her Delhi visit, seeks appointment of PM Modi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday announced the dates of her Delhi visit to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the release of central funds. “Agar time milega toh thik hai, nahi toh hamara jo karna hai woh karenge (if he meets us, well and fine, and if he does not, we will do what we have to),” asserted Mamata Banerjee launching a veiled attack on the Prime Minister and the Union Government, warning them of the consequences that may lie ahead.

The Trinamool Congress Supremo along with a few other MPs will visit the capital between the 18th and 23rd of the month, seeking an appointment with the Prime Minister. “I have written to the Prime Minister asking for an appointment on any of those days, I wish to meet him along with a few other MPs and talk to him about the release of the funds and the swift payment of the workers who were employed under the 100 days work scheme,” said Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the center stopped West Bengal’s share of funds allocated for welfare schemes. “The center has blocked our funds. They have even stopped our allocated share of funds in the health sector. They have stopped all our funds, if the other states are getting their shares, why should we be denied the same? This is why we want to meet the Prime Minister,” said the West Bengal CM.

Previously, the Trinamool Congress battalion under the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee had visited Delhi in October to meet Union Minister Giriraj Singh over the release of the MNREGA funds. Trinamool had alleged that the ‘Modi’ government has withheld ₹15,000 crore, slated for the payment of the workers of West Bengal. However, the visit did not go as planned and they were detained by the Delhi police following their protests staged at the Krishi Bhavan.
