US President Donald Trump has once again called for recognition with the Nobel Peace Prize, asserting he deserves the accolade for his diplomatic efforts in several global conflict zones. His remarks came shortly after Pakistan officially nominated him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in easing tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a social media post, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry declared, “President Donald J. Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026 in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis.”
Trump, speaking to reporters on Friday, claimed his foreign policy efforts have repeatedly earned him consideration for the prestigious award."They should give me the Nobel Prize for Rwanda and if you look, the Congo, or you could say Serbia, Kosovo, you could say a lot of them," he said. “The big one is India and Pakistan. I should have gotten it four or five times.”
The US president also mentioned an impending peace deal involving Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, though details remain vague. Trump claimed the agreement, which he says will be signed on Monday, would mark a significant diplomatic milestone in a long-standing regional conflict that has recently flared up again. However, there has been no independent confirmation of US involvement in the alleged treaty.
Trump insisted his repeated exclusion from the Nobel Peace Prize shortlists is politically motivated. “They won't give me a Nobel Peace Prize because they only give it to liberals,” he remarked.
The Indian government has consistently dismissed Trump’s assertions regarding his involvement in de-escalating the India-Pakistan conflict, rejecting claims of any third-party mediation.
This is not the first time Trump has received nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize. He was previously nominated by allies and supporters, especially for his administration’s role in brokering the Abraham Accords, normalisation agreements between Israel and several Arab nations. Despite these nominations, he has never been awarded the prize.
