“There will be a tsunami of Congress in Madhya Pradesh…145-150 seats for the party”, Rahul Gandhi predicts victory in the poll bound state; promises farm loan waiver and welfare initiatives
“I am cent percent sure that there will be a tsunami of Congress in Madhya Pradesh… the people are going to give us 145-150 seats to the Congress party”, said senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, addressing a public gathering in Vididsha in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Gandhi also stated that the BJP has always cheated the people of Madhya Pradesh, starting from 2018, when the BJP toppled the elected Congress government by allegedly ‘buying’ the MLAs.
“You had elected Congress government in Madhya Pradesh 5 years ago, but Modi-Shivraj Singh-Amit Shah cheated you by toppling your elected government by buying MLAs. By giving Crores of Rupees and purchasing MLAs of Congress party, your decision, the voice of your heart was crushed by the BJP leaders, by the Prime Minister,” said Rahul Gandhi. The Wayanad MP further noted that farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh in Madhya Pradesh will be waived off if Congress wins elections. “The BJP cheated the farmers, youth, and small traders of the state. BJP had said that Congress will not be able to do this but we had waived off the loans of farmers last time,” added Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led Union government and said that the Congress combats BJP’s ‘Nafrat ka Bazaar’ with their ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan.’ "We fight the BJP. In Karnataka, we chased them away. In Himachal Pradesh, we chased them away - but not with hatred. We open 'Mohabbat ki Dukan' in 'Nafrat ka Bazaar'. We are soldiers of non-violence, we don't hit. But we chased them out with love,” said the Wayanad MP.
“I have visited Madhya Pradesh several times now. I am cent percent sure that there will be a tsunami of Congress in Madhya Pradesh. You can write it down; people of Madhya Pradesh are going to give 145-150 seats to the Congress party,” said Rahul Gandhi exuding confidence. The senior leader further alleged that ‘1,7000 crore’ was sent for development but that was channelized into the pockets of the ‘corrupt BJP ministers.'
Not only did Rahul Gandhi promise to waive off farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh in Madhya Pradesh, he also ‘guaranteed’ that 100 units of electricity would be given for free, Rs 1.5 lakh rupees will be given to the parents at the birth of a girl child, and Rs 1,500 would be given to women of all households in Madhya Pradesh if the Congress came to power in the state. “All our focus is on the poor people of the state, we want to send money to your accounts for your welfare,” promised Rahul Gandhi.
The 230-member Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in a single phase on November 17, with the voting results set to be tallied on December 3.
