Tejashwi Yadav Trails Behind in Raghopur; NDA Dominates Bihar Count

The Bihar Assembly Election 2025 results delivered an unexpected twist on Friday, with the NDA comfortably crossing the 200-seat mark by 3 pm. The mandate appeared to be slipping rapidly from the Mahagathbandhan, and even RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was facing a major setback in his own constituency. He was trailing by around 4,800 votes against BJP’s Satish Kumar, who maintained a steady lead through the afternoon.

Adding to the irony, Tejashwi Yadav’s official Instagram page had put out posts a day earlier projecting him as the “Chief Minister of Bihar,” along with old visuals from his 2020 swearing-in as Deputy Chief Minister. The early declaration now stands in stark contrast to the numbers emerging from the EVMs.

Only yesterday, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav told reporters that Tejashwi was on course to become the next Chief Minister. But by the eleventh round of counting, Tejashwi had slipped far behind in the race.

In another family setback, Tejashwi’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav, who formed his own outfit, the Janshakti Janata Dal, after being ousted from the RJD, was placed third in his seat. He was trailing by over 16,500 votes, nearly 27,000 behind the leading candidate from the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), followed by the RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan.

Celebrations began across NDA party offices as early as 2 pm, with trends showing a clear sweep in their favour.
One of the key planks of the NDA campaign was the Nitish Kumar government’s flagship welfare programme, the
Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, under which women across the state received ₹10,000 in direct financial support.

By 3 pm, the tally stood at: BJP 93, JD(U) 83, LJPRV 19, RJD 26, AIMIM 6, and Congress leading in only 4 constituencies.
